Some of you may have noticed that I did not attend Dreamland this year in Mexico and may have wondered what had happened.
I pride myself on the fact that I am a very professional person and treat people with the dignity and respect that they deserve. In return, I only ask that I am treated the same. I have never pulled out of gig before, but the level of disorganisation (that bordered on utter chaos) that was shown by the promotion team of the Dreamland festival left me with no choice but to return without playing my timeslot at the festival.
This was felt by a number of other djs who only realized the level of disorganisation when they were down at the venue. From drivers who were hours late to the airport, being pulled over by police and passports held until money was handed over, being left at the hotel with no way to get food or water due to 'the language barrier' after 32 hours of being awake with little opportunity to eat; to set times late by 2 hours, playing an hour longer than scheduled and even one dj being left at the hotel for 3 hours on the day of departure meaning that he missed his flight. It was a shambles. Even before setting off, a certain manager received emails asking where the dj was, even though the promoters had been given ALL of the correct details. Two dj's even pulled out before the event!
It is not often that fans get to hear about the background of an event or when things like this happen. Most events are run very professionally and are a pleasure to play at. Unfortunately in this case, my management and I did not feel that I was in a position where I could play and made the decision to withdraw.
To those who had been looking forward to seeing me, I am very sorry that the promotional team acted with such a high level of disorganisation which gave me and my management little choice.
Whether or not all the dj's post up info on the reality of the event is up to them, but I feel it necessary in this case.
Hopefully those who had looked forward to my set still had a good event.
