With a catalogue of classics to his name, and legions of fans the world over, Paul van Dyk needs absolutely no introduction.
Having received nod's and nominations for everything from DJMag's 1 spot to the Grammys, van Dyk has made a mission out of pushing electronic dance music to new heights, and his latest release is no exception! With a stellar collection of hits spanning his prestigious career, this legendary DJ breathes new life into some of his best loved tracks with remixes by dance masters Super8 & Tab, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Thomas Gold and up and coming VANDIT alum Jerome Ism-ae.
Kicking off with the gorgeous Paul van Dyk classic Nothing But You, talented production duo Super8 & Tab give this seminal dance track a fresh new sound that you won't be able to get enough of! Dialing back slightly on the blissful euphoria, this new mix brings out a harder edged undertone that definitely pays homage to the nuances of the original whilst paving its own way.
Next up is Giuseppe Ottaviani's lush interpretation of Forbidden Fruit.
With its pumping rhythm and a melody that makes it absolutely impossible to stand still, we definitely have this mix on heavy repeat play! Like the original, this is a perfect balance of heart-thumping energy and gorgeous melodic flourishes that are guaranteed to keep the crowd on their toes.
Rounding out the latter half of The Best of Paul van Dyk remixes are two more of Paul van Dyk's classic tracks We Are Alive and Words. With Thomas Gold on remix duties, We Are Alive takes on a gritty thumping vibe as dirty basslines subtly weave under an intensely rocking beat.
Of all the mixes, it seems this is definitely the biggest departure from
the original, but as it is with all good music, it just works! Gold cranks up the mood and rocks it out, and there is no doubt you're gonna be craving this track just as much as we do!
Last but not least is Jerome Isma-ae's gorgeous interpretation of Words.
Deep, dark and devastatingly beautiful, this glitchy trancer manages to balance an intense driving beat with a breakdown so beautiful it almost took our breath away. Epic, and ethereal, this new vision of the PvD original is truly one that is guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser.
In the end we have to hand it to these guys, because there is definitely nothing harder than taking a brilliant classic and putting your own spin on it. But with gorgeous remixes by some of today's hottest young artists, the hard work has definitely paid off, and there's no doubt in our mind you'll be loving it too!
