What a month!!!
Well, we think most of you know what has happened the last month. The last 2 days, to be more exact. Tiësto has won both the Dutch DJ award and has been chosen the worlds number 1 DJ by ending up on top of DJMag's DJ top 100 list. This newsletter is almost solely about Tiësto's newly won prizes. We have the official press release by Prime Time Management for you. Further more we have some news about how Tiësto's new single 'Traffic' is doing in the (dance) charts of Holland, Belgium and Germany and we're finishing it all off with 'Invited by Tiësto', Tiësto's own evening with his music and his fans.
Tiësto wishes to expres his deepest gratitude to all the people who supported him through all the years of him being a DJ/Producer. As he said himself last night: “For me, it is a crown on my work again, I feel honoured that the domestic and global people support me this way, for me it is a big motivation to keep on entertaining and surprising the people in the future”
What more can we add? Regards,
Black Hole Crew
Tiësto voted the No.1 DJ in the world, for the second year running!
Thursday, October 30th, at the DJ Magazine ´DJ Top 100´ award the new annual DJ top 100 of the world was announced. Tiësto did what no other DJ has ever achieved before. For the second time in a row he may call himself "best DJ in the world". One day earlier Tiësto also won two Dutch Dance Awards in Amsterdam.
Last year Tiësto was the first, non UK DJ, who ever reached the number 1 spot on the list. This time he is the first DJ who reached the number 1 position two years in a row. Like previous year DJ's like Paul van Dijk, Sasha, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia and John Digweed will have to grant Tiësto the honour to be the best DJ in the world.
Last night, on the 30th of October, the annual DJ Mag Top 100 was officially announced in club Turnmills in London. Tiësto received the award from Sir Jimmy Saville. This first host ever of Top of the Pops was the first DJ to mix two records in the 1940's.
The DJ Mag top 100, which was held for the 9th time, is the 'industry standard' from which to measure a DJ´s popularity. Since 1993, when the Top 100 was first published , it is the list used by promotors, clubowners and organisations to determine who will be the most appreciated artists for their crowds. The reason why it is so highly regarded, is that the list is completely unbiased and compiled entirely by votes from people all over the world. It is the most respected, valued and feared DJ chart in the world. DJ´s who have been on the number one spot are Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha and John Digweed. From September 6th untill October 3rd the people could vote.
Besides this award Tiësto won two Dutch DJ Awards in Amsterdam last Wednesday. These awards have been handed over in Hotel Arena for the first time this year by a jury of specialists in the Dutch dance industry. Alongside this price there was an award to win from the Dutch public, for which the voting took place through internet. The specialists and the public both decided that Tiësto was the best DJ of The Netherlands at the moment.
Tiësto was very happy with this recognition for his work over the last year. "For me, it is a crown on my work again, I feel honoured that the domestic and global people support me this way, for me it is a big motivation to keep on entertaining and surprising the people in the future". The extended number 1 DJ of the world hasn't got many time to celebrate. Tiësto: "This year I wanted to receive the award myself, last year I also have been touring in the United States and couldn't be there. Fortunately I got another chance this year". Tiësto specially interrupted his tour in the United States to receive his awards. He will be back on the plane on his way to Las Vegas and then through Washington DC to Montreal first thing friday morning, because the normal job has to go on.
'Traffic' doing well in dutch, german and belgian (dance) charts.
In belgium the single holds a firm place on the number 4 spot. In Germany the single occupies the number one spot of the DDC-Chart (for 2 weeks in a row now) and in Tiësto's home country the track has reached the number one position also. For holland that's the first time since 1980 that an instumental only record has reached that position.
