Hab grade die Wiederholung von ASOT #122 gehört. War wieder eine XXL-Episode und als Gast diesmal: Markus Schulz! Muss echt sagen, war ziemlich beeindruckt. Der Mann hat irgendwie eine ähnlich chillige Einstellung zu Trance wie vielleicht z.B. Gabriel & Dresden. In der 3. Stunde von ASOT gab's ihn non-stop in the mix und in der 4. Stunde hat er auch nen paar ältere Sachen vorgestellt. Echt nicht schlecht! (Die Playlist gibt's übrigens: HIER) Der Remix zu Motorcycles "As the rush comes" hat mich zwar nicht ganz überzeugt, aber die anderen Platten waren alle top! Der Mann kommt - wie man sicherlich am Namen vermuten kann - ursprünglich aus Deutschland, war ne Zeit lang in England und lebt jetzt in den Staaten. Dort hat der auch Radio-Show, die wohl dem einen oder anderen bekannt sein dürfte: globaldjbroadcast.com. Sollte man unbedingt mal reinschaun, denn eine eigene Artist-Page hat er noch nicht.

Habe Markus Schulz auch bei "A State of Trance" am 6. November gehört, leider nur die zweite Stunde 
...
Muss aber sagen, dass mir sein Set ebenfalls ziemlich gut gefallen hat - eben etwas chilliger bzw. verträumter als AvB.
Auch dieser Track von ihm selbst ("Clear Blue" heißt der glaub ich) ist wirklich geil - Emotionen pur! Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen, den Mann.

Markus Schulz ist für mich einer der favourite DJs, wenns um chillige Trance Music geht. Als Livesets kann ich u.a. wärmstens die DJ Broadcast empfehlen. Einfach nur der Hammer. Aber auch seine Remixe sind eine Augenweide.
Markus Schulz sollte auch für viele unter den Namen ELEVATION bekannt sein.

!!!! Der Name der letzten Wochen/Monate im Bereich Progressive Trance für mich !!!! 
Seine Clear Blue befindet sich natürlich auch schon bei mir zu Hause 
Bin ja in letzter Zeit sowieso mehr von meinem mutekkigen Tribal Sound wieder hin zu wirklichem progressive Trance übergelaufen, und dabei war mir Markus Schulz auch ein wenig behilflich 
Nice, nice, bin gespannt was der gute noch so von sich gibt, scheint auf jeden Fall sehr aktiv zu sein die letzte Zeit (bzw man hört in letzter Zeit auch hier erfreulich viel von ihm).
Allgemein ist ja mal anzumerken, dass die US-Fraktion enorm loslegt, was den eigentlichen UK Sound betrifft. Die Jungens aus dem Königreich scheinen sich langsam mehr in breakige, housige, elektrische aber auch richtig deepe Gefilde reinzuwerfen, während die Amis den eigentlichen Trance mit progressiven Remixen zur Perfektion ausbauen (für dieses Gebiet gesprochen).
Beides schön - die "guten, alten" Engländer überraschen inzwischen wieder mit klasse, teils ungewohnten Sounds, während von der anderen Seite des Atlantiks die richtig soliden Trance Nummern genial geremixt dahergeschwommen kommen =)

Bisher kenne ich leider nicht viel von ihm. Genau genommen nur den Remix für Motorcycle und seine aktuelle Platte "Clear Blue". Die gefällt mir richtig, richtig gut! Chillig, aber trotzdem energisch und eine extrem geile Melodie. Tolle Platte!
Vielleicht bekomme ich ja auch mal ein Set von ihm zu hören...

Tja ja, das "Clear blue" wird/wurde schon fast totgespielt ... nimmt schon ähnliche Formate an wie "As the rush comes".
Im Moment hör ich "You won't see me cry" rauf und runter. Sehr sehr geil!

Markus Schulz is a true pioneer in every sense of the word. When approached to compile and mix this compilation his first thoughts were not of which tracks he should use, but rather who he should work with to create something completely new and refreshing. Having asked artists he knows and admires to contribute, co-produce, and remix exclusively, this double cd you hold in your hands is indeed new and refreshing; including new exclusive tracks, as well as some otherwise unheard remixes of some of your favorites.
There is no particular style or label for this music. So many people like their music labeled, like nice little packages tied up with bows ready for you to pick up and open. Not this. This is new. This is something created out of love, a love for the music that was kindled many years ago when as a child Markus went with his 4th grade class to visit a radio station in Germany . A love for music that has evolved and grown over years. Years of triumph and heartbreak, years of travel with delayed flights and lost record boxes, years of creating and hard work. And moves from his birthplace in Germany to Boston, to Arizona, back across the Atlantic to London and now to his home in Miami. The music on these discs is all a product of this change, an evolution if you will.
While throughout his life, Markus has traveled extensively; his true home is in the studio, where he creates with his mind, body and soul. This cd is named for the place that has influenced him the greatest, providing him with the inspiration to allow his style and sound to evolve. Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, London. The place where Markus called home for two years, literally eating, sleeping and working in his small studio space, where he dared to challenge the norm, and laid the foundation of a new style and sound all his own.
As mentioned before, this CD consists of exclusive tracks and remixes, provided by some of Markus's most admired artists. From the opening sequence by Christian Rusch, whom Markus contacted as soon as the plans were laid for this cd to the final track by George Hales that took over 3 months to perfect. Markus is a long time admirer of Christian's composition skills, Christians beautiful track "Numb" can be summed up in one word "bliss". The second track is another track made exclusively for Markus, NYC duo of Filo and Peri, who have racked up many hours online chatting about everything from engineering technique to Dom's failed NBA career. Their massive hit Under The Sun is also included with a special intro mix. The Pinkbox Special guys from Texas (Peter Martin and Derek Howel) who first sent Markus a 12-minute long version of "Simple" and so graciously changed the arrangement and re-mastered it for the cd. And of Course the massive track "Perfect Wave" that Markus first started playing out this past summer. San Mehat, a Montreal nightclub owner, whos passion for music is so great that he has his own studio, churning out dark melodic numbers that are the perfect soundtrack for reflecting. Ironically, San's club is known for playing tribal Circuit House. Perry O'Neil who Markus was first introduced to with his massive progger Kubik, and his collaboration with Robert Nickson who Markus meet when they both remixed Karada's "Last Flight" for Lost Language. Perry is also featured with his incredible unreleased dub of "As The Rush Comes", Ozgur Can's "Sometimes" that proves that you don't need to have racks and racks of studio gear. You just need to have passion and an ear for sound. Mark Otten who's track "Mushroom Therapy" inspired many successful days and nights where Markus was previously just staring at an empty computer screen with just a kick drum going. It was a no brainer for Markus when he first heard Armin play "Tranquility" as his opening tune at their gig at Level in Miami, to call up Maykel at Armada and offer to remix it. Airwave, who's track "When things go wrong" still travels around in Markus's record box is another big inspiration for Markus. Remixing Lady Blue for the Airwave's release on Bonzai was a labour of Love. Miro's "Right by Your Side", which was one of the remixes to originally come out of Markus's Brixton studio, now with a new remix by Sonorous. Thomas Penton, who's engineering skills Markus has admired for years. Markus made sure to contact Thomas and fed him music that was the inspiration for this cd and asked Thomas to make him something exclusively with him in mind. The outcome was this massive stormer Dominica. And Andrew K who contacted Markus with a track that he was about to release himself. A track with a simple kick and bassline and a murky lead. But Markus hears music like very few people do. Markus and Andrew K spent many hours online collaborating, making changes to give it the Coldharbour vibe. When it was ready, Andrew sent the individual audio tracks to Markus who then perfected the mix. The outcome is a track that so massive, that when played to a fellow DJ friend, they thought it was a new track by "Fluke". Austin Leeds brought the original version of "Fusing Love" by Markus's studio for a quick listen and together Austin and Markus decided to make a special remix for Markus's CD. "Autumn", by George Hales, which was probably the track that went through the most scrutiny on the cd. A track that Markus heard about 3 months before the production of the cd was to be finished. A track that Alucard must have updated and tweaked for Markus 20 times. When finally Alucard just uploaded all of the individual tracks to Markus. A track that Markus then took and tailored to fit as the last song on the cd. A song that literally was finished in between a break between production of CD 1 and CD 2. Andain's Beautiful things, which was made exclusively for this cd. Markus, Josh and Dave have become good friends and Markus's Cd would not have been properly represented without the G&D stamp on it. And of course the massive meeting of minds that collaborated on Clear Blue. What started as a short clip of music that was sent to Markus by a 16 year old wunderkind from Detroit, to the eventual massive version that was canned by almost every major DJ months before its release, to the now full on vocal Coldharbour mix featuring the amazing vocals of Justine Suissa, who Markus first came in contact with through his remix of Oceanlab's "Satellite", which is also included on this cd.
This CD represents everything that is Coldharbour. Fasten your seatbelts, we are cleared for takeoff! |
Wie geil, darauf freu ich mich noch mehr als auf die neue ASOT Mix-CD vom Armin. =)

Ich hab mir jetzt auch einiges angehört.
Wirklich gut gefällt mir Airwave: "Ladyblue" (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Mix. Mark Otten: "Tranquility" (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Mix)
geht auch noch.
Motorcycle: "As The Rush Comes" (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Mix) hat er nicht so gut gelöst, finde ich. Die Vocals gehen zu seh unter, vor allem meine Lieblingsstelle, wo die Frau flüstert, ist nicht gut hervorgehoben.
An sonsten ganz guter Progressive, auch wenn es nicht ganz mein Geschmak ist (bin ja Freun von was Härterem).

markus schulz ist wahrhaft ein begnadeter produzent und remixer! tolle sachen macht der! am meisten gefiel mir aber der trance mix von Faurés "Pavane" ("Miami Sunset") auf der Classical Trancelations von armada. das klavier spielt einem echt den atem aus der lunge! wahnsinn! (natürlich gilt das kompliment auch dem begnadeten pianisten jan vayne)

der Markus is schon seit über 15 Jahren als DJ und Produzent dabei; also wesentlich länger als so manch anderer ...
für wen der alles schon Remixe gemacht hat - aber hallo! (Depeche Mode, Everything But The Girl, Fatboy Slim, ...)
laut Umfrage is der z.Zt. gefragter als DJs wie Tiësto oder Sasha

ich meine nicht vom produzieren her sondern vom auflegen und das auch wieder mehr in deutschland oder europa, da er ja gebürtiger deutscher ist, das er in miami der oberhammer ist weiß ich auch aber denkt einer von euch hier sagt der name markus schulz irgentwem was?
